This Vendor-independent Workshop Provides You

In the last years Ansible became the go-to tool for networking- and security teams trying to automate their operations, including networking giants Cisco and Juniper, futuristic outfits like NASA, cool equipment manufacturers like GoPro, or financial organizations like UBS and Capital One.

Ansible’s step-by-step task-oriented approach (as opposed to declarative state management offered by tools like Chef and Puppet) is a perfect match to common procedures networking and security professionals have to use due to the extremely-large blast radius of potential failures. Having officially-supported modules for dozens of different networking devices, including data center switches, routers, load balancers, and firewalls is an added bonus.

This workshop will help you learn the basics of Ansible, YAML and Jinja2 (the foundational technologies used by Ansible), the pesky details that trip Ansible beginners, and how to use Ansible to automate your network.

Topics Covered
The workshop will focus on the design aspects of private cloud infrastructure including:

  • Ansible, YAML and Jinja2 basics
  • Connecting to network devices
  • Selecting Optimal compute capacity
  • Authentication mechanisms
  • Executing commands and gathering data
  • Creating reports
  • Modifying device configurations
  • Using declarative modules to set device configuration to desired state
  • Validating network device state

After attending this workshop you’ll be able to:

  • Identify simple automation scenarios
  • Collect data from network devices and generate reports using that data
  • Compare current device configuration to desired state
  • Perform dry runs to check changes that would be made to network devices
  • Roll out configuration changes
  • Validate proper device- and network operation

Who Should Attend
It doesn’t matter whether you’re working on data center, WAN or service provider networks. It doesn’t matter whether you’re focused on network or security, working on network or security designs, or deploying infrastructure or services.

You can automate parts of your work, and we’ll help you figure out what parts that might be and how you can automate them.
